Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Beyond Gardens, formerly known as Smart Yards Co-op ("Beyond Gardens," "we," "us"), collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit this website, contact us, or sign up for our newsletter. By using this website, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Information you give us. When you fill out our consultation or contact form, we collect your name, phone number, email address, preferred contact method, project site address, and the details you share about your yard and project. When you join our newsletter, we collect your email address.

  • Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we collect basic technical information such as your browser type, device, pages visited, the site that referred you, and an approximate location based on your IP address. This is collected through cookies and similar tools described in our Cookies Policy.

  • Information from others. If you are referred by a partner, such as Santa Clara Valley Water or Terra & Homes, we may receive your name and contact details so we can follow up on your request.

How we use your information

  • To respond to your inquiry, schedule your phone consultation and onsite visit, and prepare designs, estimates and contracts.

  • To deliver and maintain your project, including scheduling crews and ordering plants and materials.

  • To help you apply for rebate programs, such as the Valley Water Landscape Rebate Program, when you ask us to.

  • To send our newsletter and workshop announcements, if you signed up. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.

  • To understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it.

  • To meet legal, licensing, tax and insurance obligations.

How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only:

  • With service providers that help us run our business, such as our website host (Squarespace), email and scheduling tools, and analytics providers, who may use it only to provide services to us.

  • With partners working on your project, such as our licensed construction partner, nurseries or subcontractors, only as needed to complete the work you requested.

  • With rebate program administrators, such as Valley Water, when you ask us to help with an application.

  • When required by law, or to protect our rights, our clients or the public.

Photos of your garden

We often photograph projects to document our work. We will not publish photos that identify you, your family or your street address without your permission. If you see a photo of your property on our site and would like it removed, contact us and we will take it down.

How long we keep information

We keep project records for as long as needed to provide our services, honor warranties, and meet legal and tax requirements. Inquiry and newsletter information is kept until you ask us to delete it or it is no longer needed.

How we protect information

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, and our website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request a copy, to correct it, and to request that we delete it, subject to legal exceptions. You also have the right not to be discriminated against for using these rights. Because we do not sell or share personal information as defined by California law, there is nothing to opt out of, but you may still contact us with any request. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in any email.

To make a request, email info@smartyardscoop.com. We will verify your request and respond within 45 days.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other websites

Our site links to other websites, such as Valley Water, our partners and social media. Their privacy practices are their own, and we encourage you to read their policies.
