We are thrilled to be a part of the Landscape Design Assistance Program offered by the Santa Clara Valley Water District. This initiative aims to support homeowners like you in transforming high-water-use front lawns into water-wise, eco-friendly and visually appealing spaces.
The Landscape Design Assistance Program provides up to two hours of consultation with a professional landscape designer to discuss ideas and recommendations for your front yard lawn conversion project. Here’s how it works:
Consultation Details
During the consultation, our designers will analyze site conditions, evaluate landscape needs, and provide recommendations on layout, plants, and other features.
Eligibility
To qualify, you must be a single-family or small multi-family property within Santa Clara County and have an active Landscape Conversion application with the Santa Clara Valley Water District.
Rebate Terms
Upon completion of your Landscape Conversion project, you will be reimbursed up to $200 for the design consultation fee.
Steps to Proceed
Apply for Landscape Rebate
Submit a Landscape Rebate Program application and choose the Landscape Design Assistance Program option.
Select Us as a Designer
Choose Beyond Gardens from the Valley Water Approved Professional Landscape Designer list and contact us to schedule a consultation.
Prepare for Consultation
Complete the Landscape Design Questionnaire, create a basic property map, and gather inspiration materials before your consultation.

The Landscape Design Assistance Program is a Valley Water program that provides up to two hours of consultation with a professional landscape designer for a front-yard lawn conversion. The designer analyzes site conditions, evaluates your landscape needs and recommends layout, plants and other features. Once your conversion is complete, you can be reimbursed up to $200 of the design consultation fee.

Next, choose Beyond Gardens from Valley Water's Approved Professional Landscape Designer list and contact us to schedule your consultation. Before we meet, complete the Landscape Design Questionnaire, create a basic property map, and gather photos and websites that inspire you.

You pay the $200 consultation fee directly to the designer and keep the receipt. When your conversion is ready to begin, you submit your proposed plant list to Valley Water and wait for a Notice to Proceed. After the project is finished, you submit the required documents, including the design receipt, and once Valley Water inspects and approves the conversion, the fee is reimbursed.

Yes. The Design Assistance Program is an option within Valley Water's Landscape Rebate Program, which reimburses approved residential lawn conversions at $2 per square foot, up to $3,000. Beyond Gardens supports clients through the whole process and guides them to the materials and plants the program requires. Rebate terms are set by Valley Water, so confirm the current amounts when you apply.
